SHIELDS

"Sometimes we need physical reminders of the deep truths we believe, something we can hold or put in our pockets that help us remember that we are part of a larger story, and that God is with us. Our hearts can be encouraged to step into the mythic and re-centre. These coins have been individually hand-poured out of repurposed metal to make bronze for just this purpose."

SHEILD MEANINGS

The river of life

Ezekiel 47:1-12 describes the river of life coming from God’s temple that will flow into the lands below, bringing life wherever it goes. Trees will bear fruit, year after year, and life will flourish in the land. Deserts will be made green, and the land will come alive. This is an image of life used by John Eldredge in the book, Get Your Life Back. In that book, John talks about a practice of holy detachment where we entrust all we are and all we are responsible for to God. The prayer and practice is simple but not always easy. “I give everyone and everything to you, God”. The coin combines this phrase with the River of Life to remind us there is healing and life in our kind Father’s hands.

Come further up, come further in

The Chronicles of Narnia are the beloved tales written by C.S. Lewis. The story contains adventure, struggles, trials, defeats and victory. One of the core themes of the narrative is connection and reconnection with Aslan, the great lion. As the children grow and change they each are brought back to Narnia to play a new role and learn a deeper connection with Aslan the creator of this amazing world. At the end of the whole narrative Aslan is saying goodbye to the children and he tells them they will know him by another name in their world and they have what they need to find Him. As he leads his tribe into a new world, they are told that what they have lived now is just the beginning and they head into Aslan’s country for the true and real adventure. The unicorn Jewel ,was a central character, rushed into Aslan’s new country and with joy said calling to the rest of the characters,  “Come further up, come further in.”
