The axes made in the Freebird Forge are made from a pattern printed by a 3D printer, which I pack into a sand mold to pour the molten bronze into. Bronze pouring is an ancient art that includes both science and art. The science is pretty straightforward

Full shield details
Materials: Handcrafted using 18-gauge steel.
Background: William Marshall was a lesser son of a minor nobleman who was likely to fade into history like others of his kind. The tradition of old England required nobles to exchange sons as security for agreements or treaties, and if a nobleman did not follow through on their promises, their son would be executed. William, as a six-year-old, was left to be executed by his father, who said, “I have the hammer and anvil on which I can forge better sons than he.†The nobleman who held him instead trained the boy and raised him. Marshal would become a knight, and great tournament champion, mentor to a king and trusted advisor to five English monarchs, including the evil king John, who was forced to sign the Magna Carta that Marshall was central in negotiating. His story is one of betrayal, loss, initiation, maturity and ultimately of a kind of leadership that would shape the modern era as we know it. This shield is a symbol of hope, wisdom, and a life well lived, a reflection in part of the servant leadership modelled by Christ.
